The Club planned outdoor games and activities for their daycare kids, families, staff, and board members.
Dieppe Boys and Girls Club Inc.
Parents and kids were invited to play together in a dodgeball game for the whole Club.
Boys and Girls Club of Fredericton
Several group activities were planned throughout the day. The staff had lunch together offsite to connect. Later in the afternoon, all staff, volunteers, and kids came together to help make decorations for the upcoming 50th-anniversary celebration. They also had outdoor activities for the children and youth.
Boys & Girls Club of Moncton
Between 6 – 8pm on June 1st, youth joined together to create a chalk mural in front of the Club, built their own birdhouses. And the next day, they hosted a hike so the youth could hang up their birdhouses in nature!
Boys and Girls Club of Riverview
All of the Club kids were outside for a BBQ, followed by field games together. Staff also delivered a message about the importance of disconnecting from devices.
The Boys and Girls Club of Saint John Inc.
The Saint John Club had a free BBQ for the community from 4 – 5pm and asked those who attended to sign a pledge to commit to unplugging for one hour. They also had the playground open and played a few “picnic-style games.”
Boys & Girls Club of Salisbury
The Club planned an afternoon full of activities, including a bubble station, slime lab, giant parachute games, potato sack races, ball hockey, basketball games, and a coloring contest. Kids also made their own snacks.
Boys and Girls Clubs of Cape Breton-Whitney Pier
Several events happened throughout the day. During lunchtime, Club members were outside to play sports and draw with chalk. After school, Club members were taken on an outdoor excursion to a nearby park. The Club also hosted a mini amazing race challenge for kids to participate in after school.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Halifax
Kids, their families, and staff at the Greater Halifax Club’s Dartmouth North location enjoyed a pancake breakfast, and then had a chance to shoot some hoops in the gym!
The Boys & Girls Club of Yarmouth
Club staff and youth participated in a “tacky day” where everyone was encouraged to dress outside the fashion norms. The staff also agreed to unplug to connect for the entire day: no cell phones, computers, or technology of any kind were used (with the exception of the landline phone). The staff also celebrated together during lunch hour with a BBQ and a few outdoor games. In the afternoon, all three sites planned outdoor games for the children and their parents to participate in together.
Boys and Girls Club of Truro and Colchester
The Club celebrated Unplug to Connect by unplugging and playing games and activities outside and in the Club gym.
Gander Boys and Girls Club
They hosted a popcorn carnival for all of the members in their after-school programs.
James Hornell Boys and Girls Club
The Club had a family night, for ages 5 and up, with games, music, and delicious healthy snacks.
Wabana Boys and Girls Club
The day started with a pancake breakfast at the elementary school. After school, the kids were led by the RCMP in a parade to the Club. At the Club, there were a number of fun activities, with some special visitors in attendance. And it was all topped off with an evening Glow Stick Dance.
Prince Edward Island

The Club hosted a family picnic. The price of a hotdog or hamburger was handing in your phone and playing a classic picnic game, including potato sack races, three-legged races, a ball hockey tournament, and a parent vs kids baseball game.
Wellington & Area Boys and Girls Club
The Club hosted an outdoor campfire fun day with lots of games, crafts, and other outdoor activities.
Boys and Girls Club of Summerside Inc.
The Club had a free bike raffle in the week leading up to June 1. Bikes were on display on Wednesday and Thursday at the Club, and on Friday there was a BBQ for Club members before the draw took place. The Summerside Police Department also did a bike safety session with the Club members on Friday.
